PetWave Shipping in Australia
PetWave supplies premium pet products at perfect prices to our valued customers nationwide. We supply our customers via a variety of premium distribution networks in carefully packed boxes. This ensures that our high quality live, perishable and/or delicate products reach your door in great condition.
PetWave is committed to ensuring that you get your delivery as quickly as possible. This is because:
- we want to provide great customer service; and
- we care about the welfare of our livestock; and/or
- we want to ensure that our frozen reptile food arrives frozen
Generally orders received before 7:30am are dispatched the same day Monday to Thursday via premium delivery. Orders received after 7:30am on Thursday will be sent the following Monday or Tuesday (excluding public holidays). Please note orders involving a combination of products from different warehouses and some bulk products may take up to a week to be dispatched. Shipping to metro areas generally takes 1 day from dispatch and shipping to regional areas generally takes 1 to 2 days.
PetWave offers flat rate shipping of $17.95 per order up to $149 and free shipping for all orders over $149. Also some products below $149 are offered with free shipping.
Some remote areas are not able to be supplied door to door due to lack of couriers, so in these areas goods can be available for pick up from the local airport, transport depot or your nearest local post office.
Some state-based government environmental restrictions mean that we are not able to send some products to some areas. The restrictions are listed in each product’s information section. In general, we cannot send live fish and live plants to Western Australia (WA) and Tasmania (TAS). Northern Territory (NT) customers require a permit before we can ship any fish or plants. Please contact us if you are NT based and you would like to investigate further.
Live Insect orders shipped to Western Australia may be subject to Quarantine Insepection and a Quarantine Fee may be issued to the customer. More information can be found here regarding WA Import Restrictions.
Special Shipping Requirements
Live Stock Special Shipping Requirements
At PetWave we are experts at shipping livestock (including Live Fish, Live Hermit Crabs, Live Insects and Live Aquatic Plants) across Australia. All PetWave live stock are professionally packed and shipped with absolute care and diligence. We ship our products as early in the week as possible to ensure that there is no risk of our livestock being delayed over the weekend. All shipping options are designed to minimise transport time and stress on our livestock and to ensure that they arrive fresh, healthy and happy.
In the rare event that live stock is adversely affected by transportation, then PetWave offers our 100% Live Guarantee.
Our high quality live fish are packed in purpose made breathable fish bags, filled with fresh water and oxygen gas, sealed securely & carefully, packaged in a Styrofoam esky to minimise movement and specially labelled. Please refer to PetWave Care Sheets for advice on how to care for our live fish to ensure a safe transition to their new home.
Our premium live insects and hermit crabs are carefully packed and labelled to ensure they arrive in great condition at your door. PetWave oversupply our insects by 10 to 20%, to allow make up for any small issues. All shipments are ventilated, packed with sufficient fresh and dry food to ensure that your insects get sufficient nutrients, moisture and oxygen during their journey. All mealworms and black soldier flies are packed in organic wheat bran mealworm bedding, while crickets and woodies are packed with corrugated cardboard to enable protection and places to hide. When we identify unusually extreme temperature forecasts (cold or hot), we will either include extra packaging (such as heat packs or dry ice) or delay delivery until a more appropriate time.
Frozen Pet Food Special Shipping Requirements
At PetWave we are experts at shipping frozen pet food across Australia. All PetWave frozen pet food is professionally packed and shipped with absolute care and diligence. We ship our products as early in the week as possible to ensure that there is no risk of our frozen pet food being delayed over the weekend.
Heat is obviously the main enemy of frozen pet food during shipping. To address this, all shipping options are designed to minimise transport time and ensure that our frozen pet food arrives at your door in good order. Delivery options include refrigerated freight where available and insulated polystyrene eskies (commonly used for shipping frozen medical, pharmaceutical and seafood products) packed with ice packs and/or dry ice for our road and air freight options.
In addition, we need to overcome the challenge that small amounts of frozen pet food thaw much quicker than larger amounts due to thermodynamics (large amount of thermal mass is better at staying cool). For example, one small package of frozen day old quails will thaw hundreds of times quicker than a box full of frozen large rats. Therefore, an important consideration is to ensure that there is a minimum weight of frozen product in each delivery to maintain quality. The minimum weight of frozen for PetWave is 1kg across Australia to ensure thermal mass is sufficient to remain frozen.
Choosing the Best Delivery Address
PetWave strongly recommend that the delivery address that you provide is attended so that delivery can be accepted during business hours. This is important so that the livestock and/or frozen products can be transferred to an appropriate environment immediately. Potential delivery addresses include home, friend’s home, work, local shop or any other physical address, etc. PetWave will email a tracking number at the time of dispatch so you can follow the delivery status. Our couriers have been instructed to leave your order in a safe place at your front door, should no one be home to accept the delivery. Please note that any freight that is left at the premise or returned to the post office or freight depot as a result of the delivery address being unattended, immediately becomes the responsibility of the purchaser. We obviously cannot guarantee products left for any time out of our control and at the mercy of the elements. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
